The word Atoll is from Dhivehi (the language spoken in the Maldives). The temprature fluctuates between 23°C and 32°C (74°F to 90°F). The Maldives has a tropical climate and coconut palms and various tropical plants grow on the islands. The southwest monsoon brings most of the rain, mostly around June and July. Normally, the skies are clear during the north east monsoon. There is always a cooling breeze blowing from the sea. There are no season in the Maldives The LanguageThe people of Maldives have one of the highest literacy rates in the world. The official language is Dhivehi and English language is commonly understood.
